The 755 kWp Hybrid PV-Diesel Genset Power Plant provides 24 hour per day electricity to a remote, off-grid residential complex in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The hybrid power plant is comprised of a 2.4 MW set of diesel generators, a 755 kWp solar photovoltaic system, and a microgrid which interconnects the two power production sources and delivers the power to the nearby end user.
A customized microgrid control system monitors loads, genset operation and solar production, and adjusts solar output to minimize genset diesel fuel consumption and maintain a stable grid.
Installed very close to the sea, the system is exposed to a harsh, high salinity environment which required Enviromena’s solar engineers to design a system made of corrosion-resistant materials. The solar modules are installed to a racking system made of Glass Reinforced Polymer (GRP) on foundations made of prefabricated concrete “nails” which are driven into the ground on site.·
