The Oman Botanic Gardens is a development under construction in Muscat to research and protect the unique plants, environment and botanical heritage of Oman. The 420ha project will be the largest botanic garden in the Arabian Peninsula, and will become a leading destination for local and international visitors.
To meet the project’s sustainability objectives, the developers have integrated a 702 kW ground mount solar photovoltaic power plant to provide much of the electricity that will be consumed at the site. The project will be the first grid connected solar power plant in Oman.
The solar power plant was built with SolarWorld modules and mounted to a foundation of buried concrete footers. Due to the unique mountain location of the solar power plant, it has been designed to withstand a significant influx of storm water which can occur from mountain runoff.
